Moral Red Lines for Artificial Intelligence

About the project

The Moral Red Lines project brings Catholic teaching into conversation with AI research and public policy to ask what kind of technological future we are building. It proposes boundaries where increasingly powerful AI threatens human control, relationships, learning, work, dignity, or responsibility, and identifies constructive directions for technologies that serve human flourishing.

Mobilizing Catholic Moral Authority on AI, Human Agency, and the AGI Race

Moral discernment begins while purposes, design, investment, and deployment can still be chosen. The people whose learning, livelihoods, relationships, and care will change deserve a voice at that stage.

The consultation white paper and expert dialogues bring researchers, Church leaders, educators, workers, and policymakers together to examine the evidence and responsibilities. Catholic teaching provides the foundation; the six applications are the author's proposals for discussion and review.

Prepared within the Future of Life Institute call on religious projects addressing the challenges posed by the AGI race.
